MySQL Database Set Up and Configuration

The 1and1 Control Panel allows you to easily create, access, edit, and delete your MySQL databases directly from the control panel. Once a database is created through the control panel, you can manage it by logging onto the MySQL management application, phpMyAdmin. Unfortunately, 1and1 assigns you a Database Name and Username that you cannot change, and they're not simple to remember at all. However, you can add a description to the database so that you have some idea on what database you're about to access. A default password is created, but you can easily change it. Like the user data the password is in plain sight!

Once you click on the phpMyAdmin button, a new tab opens in your browser and you are directed to the MySQL Administration Center and the familiar phpMyAdmin interface.
