FTP Account Management

If you're planning on doing more than some minor file management, you're likely going to use some sort of FTP client rather than the WebspaceExplorer. Also, you might want to allow other users to access and make changes to the hosted directories. 1and1's Control Panel enables you to easily create new users and assign them access to specific directories. You can also edit and delete FTP accounts.

However, you're forced to create a user name that is composed of the a string of letters and numbers followed by a hyphen and the new username (ex a12345678-new users). Again, the passwords are all in plain site. The user name constraints are a bit annoying, but most, if not all, FTP clients allow you to save this information so that you don't have to remember your user name. Assigning access levels is done by either selecting an existing directory from a dropdown list or creating a new directory for the user. You can really be specific on what directory you want your user to have access to and the whole process of setting up an FTP account is simple.
